Meet The Semifinalists: Student Spotlights

February 21, 2021

In October 2020, forty-two law students signed up for the Harlan Fiske Stone Moot Court. Competition. They confronted the text and history of the False Claims Act (FCA), 31 U.S.C. §§ 3729–33, proposed what standard of review should be applied to government dismissals of FCA suits, and wrestled with issues of scienter and materiality and FCA pleadings. And all on Zoom! Months later, we are down to our top eight teams and top sixteen advocates!

This week, we'll be highlighting some of Columbia Law School's top talent. In addition to their profiles, you can check out our one-on-one's with the semifinalists below.

Much like the judges in the last round, we asked our semifinalists some tough questions, including: why they chose to participate in the Stone competition this year, their favorite part of the competition so far, their take on Zoom arguments, fun facts learned about their Stone partners and more!

NB: Each student chose which questions to answer (a nice change of pace from oral arguments, we're sure!).
