Collin J. Li is a 3L from Flushing, Queens, New York. Collin represented the Appellee in the Qualifying Round and the Appellant in the Semifinal Round.
We asked Collin a few questions about his experience competing in the Stone Moot Court Competition this year:
Stone Director: Walk us through how you prepare for oral arguments. Do you have any routines or practices you've stuck with throughout the competition?
Li: Writing a good brief is ninety percent of my preparation for oral arguments.
Afterwards, I like to make an attack outline, highlight specific arguments I want to hit, and include counterpoints to the opponent's brief.
Practicing oral arguments with others accustoms me to getting back into my flow after an interruption.
Once I get to a point where I can explain the concepts to my momma, I'm in good shape.
Stone Director: What has been your favorite part of the Stone Competition so far?
Li: Having my draft brief torn to shreds by my very smart partner.
Congratulations, Collin!
