Sara Gomez Bohorquez '25 is from Bogotá, Colombia and was raised in Southern Illinois. She graduated from Pomona College as a QuestBridge Scholar with academic honors, where she majored in Media Studies and minored in Politics. At Columbia Law School, Sara is a Max Berger '71 Public Interest/Public Service Fellow and a 1L Advocate with the Human Rights Institute. Sara is passionate about immigrant detention release work, federal immigration law reform, and advocacy for low-income, undocumented immigrant communities. As an undergraduate, she interned at the Legal Aid Society’s Homeless Rights Project and a boutique immigration law firm, Badilla Quinteros, P.C. Following graduation, Sara worked as a paralegal at the International Refugee Assistance Project, where she joined both the litigation team and the direct legal services team to advocate for the rights of refugees and immigrants across the globe. As a DACAmented immigrant, Sara’s lived experience informs her passion for immigrants’ rights advocacy and her aspiration to become an attorney. Outside of law school, she enjoys exploring Manhattan, spending time with friends, and catching up on reality TV.
