Amaya Contreras Driggs was born and raised in Havana, Cuba, but she also considers Marbella, Spain and Miami, Florida her homes. Amaya graduated from Tufts University where she received a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations, and in Political Science. After graduation, she worked at the Center for Appellate Litigation in New  York City, a public defense law firm dedicated to the pursuit of equal justice under the law for indigent New Yorkers in their criminal appeals and other post-conviction proceedings. At CAL, she worked on the Parole Advocacy Project, the Plea Project, the Domestic Violence Survivors Justice Act Project, and on the Immigrant Justice Project, particularly working on non-citizen's direct appeals. Her areas of interest include criminal defense, immigration law, the intersection of criminal justice and immigration reform, human rights, civil rights, entertainment law, and litigation. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, brunching, and rooftops.
