Environmental Policy Database for State Attorneys General

Ongoing

In the wake of the election results, legal action at the state level to fight climate change is more important than ever. The Sabin Center for Climate Change Law is seeking volunteers to help compile a database of actions undertaken by state attorneys general (AGs) to advance environmental law and policy within their respective states. The database will be posted online at StateAG.org – a website aimed at educating state AGs and other stakeholders about the role that AGs can play in the U.S. legal system, and helping them initiate lawsuits and other legal actions.

Student volunteers will identify examples of environmental actions undertaken by state AGs, compile relevant resources (such as press releases and case documents), draft summaries of each example, and organize these into a user-friendly database. They will work under the supervision of Sabin Center Faculty Director Michael Gerrard and Staff Attorney Jessica Wentz. The project will likely be eligible for pro bono credit (but please confirm with the public interest office). Work can be carried out during winter break or afterwards.

To volunteer for the project or request additional information, please contact Jessica Wentz, [email protected]. Please also let Jessica know if you can't take on this project but are interested in learning about other volunteer or summer internship opportunities at the Sabin Center.
