Privacy law will be on center stage in 2020. Implementation of the European Union’s (EU) General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will be in full swing, EU courts may decide the fate of the Privacy Shield agreement, which regulates commercial data transfer between U.S. and EU companies, and the first executive agreement under the CLOUD Act is likely to be signed. In a roundtable format, panelists will discuss these key issues, and examine the implications of the ever-evolving surveillance regimes and privacy protections on international human rights law.
