The project provides legal orientation and know-your-rights training to migrants in Tijuana, Mexico who wish to present themselves to U.S. authorities in order to seek asylum. The Border Rights Project conducts daily human rights monitoring at the port-of-entry, and engages in broader legislative, media, and legal advocacy efforts to challenge systemic human rights violations committed by state actors, including three class action lawsuits, Al Otro Lado v. Nielsen, East Bay Sanctuary Covenant v. Trump, and Innovation Law Lab v. Nielsen.  Since the arrival of the Central American Exodus in November, Al Otro Lado has served over 2,500 asylum seekers in Tijuana.
