About Us

SALSA promotes discussion and awareness of issues affecting South Asians, particularly with respect to the law. We also strive to create a sense of community among students of South Asian heritage as well as those interested in South Asia by organizing numerous social, cultural, educational, and professional events throughout the year.

Held annually during the fall semester, Mela is SALSA's signature event; a night of South Asian food, dance and merriment to celebrate our culture. Mela is usually held on the first Saturday of November and it is an excellent opportunity for anyone wishing to show off their South Asian attire and dance moves.

The event is planned entirely by the SALSA board and Columbia Law students are welcome to invite their friends and family to take part in the festivities. Tickets are typically sold starting a few weeks before Mela.
