The Columbia Business and Law Association invites you to an information session about our organization. The lunch will take place tomorrow Monday, September 19th from 12:10-1:00pm in JG 101 and we will feed you something very non-pizza. Details about our membership, 1L/LLM board positions, our fall agenda, our mentorship program, and our outline bank will be discussed. Board members will describe the different aspects of our organization and provide insight about the best ways to get involved.
CBLA MEMBERSHIP DUES
Dues are $50 for incoming 1Ls (covering 3 years), $35 for 2Ls/Transfers (covering 2 years), and $20 for LLMs. Dues can be paid in cash or by check written out to "Columbia University." You can pay dues at the information session (September 19th) and tomorrow after the information session from 1-3 in JG. In order to utilize the CBLA outline bank or be part of our board, provisional board, or mentorship program, you will need to be a dues paying member.
1L PROVISIONAL BOARD
Every dues paying 1L interested in being on CBLA's Provisional Board is welcome to join as a 1L Provisional Board Representative. Over the course of the semester, Provisional Board members will be asked to: (1) volunteer to help at CBLA events that work with their schedule, (2) participate in the CBLA mentorship program, and (3) attend as many CBLA lunch panels as possible. At the end of the fall semester, there will be a more formal application process in which the students who have contributed most will be invited to join our board as 1L Representatives. The Provisional Board therefore serves as an opportunity to express commitment, get involved with our executive board, and show initiative.
If you are interested in becoming a Provisional Board Representative, please e-mail a short statement (up to a page double-spaced) about yourself to [email protected]. In that statement, we ask that you include some information about your background (undergraduate institution, major, work experience if any, other relevant interests, etc.) and why you want to join CBLA's Provisional Board. Please send these statements by Wednesday, September 21st at 6:00pm.
LLM REPRESENTATIVES
Unlike the 1L Provisional Board, we have a selection process for LLM Board Representatives. Interested LLM students should email their resumes and a short statement of interest (up to one page) to [email protected]. In your statement, please describe your background and previous work experience, your interest in joining CBLA, and one possible event that you would like to see CBLA organize in the coming year. Please send in your statements by Wednesday, September 21st at 6:00pm.
