2022-2023 EXECUTIVE BOARD

  • Sue (Yifan) Su is VP of Membership of CBLA.  She serves as a staff editor on the Human Rights Law Review and is Co-President of Columbia Society of International Law.

    During her 1L summer, Sue worked as a Summer Clerk at the Institute for Justice in Texas, a national libertarian litigation firm.

    Sue grew up in DC and Shanghai.  She graduated from the College of William and Mary in 2019 with a B.A. in Government and Philosophy.

  • Samrat is one of CBLA's VP's of Programming.

    Samrat is also involved with the South Asian Law Students Association. During his 1L summer, Samrat worked with the investigative arm of the New Jersey Bureau of Securities. Prior to law school, he practiced as a mergers and acquisitions attorney in one of India's leading law firms.

    Samrat is from Hyderabad, India. He graduated from the NALSAR University of Law with a B.A. LL.B. (Honors).

  • Sami Kattan is one of the VPs of Programming of CBLA. He serves on the staff of the Columbia Business Law Review and will spend his 2L year in residence at Columbia Business School as part of the 3-year JD/MBA Program.

    During his 1L summer, Sami worked for the Office of Credit Ratings of the Securities and Exchange Commission in New York. He also served as a Research Assistant to Professor Eric Talley at Columbia Law School.

    Sami grew up in London, England and graduated from McGill University in 2018 with a BCom. in International Management.

  • Niko is one of CBLA's VP's of Programming.

    Niko was born and raised in Houston, Texas and attended the United States Military Academy at West Point. He served as an Engineer Officer in the Army before leaving active duty to attend Columbia Law School and Columbia Business School as part of the JD/MBA program. In addition to serving on the CBLA board, he is a Staff Member on the Columbia Business Law Review and a Co-President of the Columbia Law School Military Association. He worked at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York during his 1L summer and will spend his 2L summer at Skadden.

     

  • Moliang Jiang is one of the VPs of Programming of CBLA. She serves as a staff editor on the Columbia Business Law Review and International Refugee Assistance Project Co-Chair of Society for Immigrant and Refugee Rights.

    During her 1L summer, Moliang worked (remotely) as a Summer Law Clerk at Fried Frank’s New York Office. Prior to attending law school, Moliang worked at a multinational food company and a venture capital firm.

    Moliang grew up in Beijing, China. She graduated from Carleton College in 2018 with a B.A. in Political Science.

  • Michael Brunetti is Co-President of CBLA. He is also a staff editor on the Columbia Law Review, President of the Columbia Law Texas Society, and Alumni Chair of the Federalist Society at Columbia Law School. During his 1L summer, Michael worked as a judicial intern for Hon. Richard J. Sullivan on the U.S. Second Circuit.

    Michael is from Long Island, NY. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in History from Duke University in 2019.

  • Mary Zhu is one of the VPs of Programming of CBLA. She also serves as a staff member on the Columbia Business Law Review.

    During her 1L summer, Mary interned at the NYC Department of Social Services in the Health and Community Services Litigation and Program Counselling Unit. 

    Mary grew up in Toronto, Canada and graduated from McGill University in 2018 with a degree in History and Economics. She worked in software product management before attending law school.

     

  • Luke Porcari is one of the VPs of Programming of CBLA. He is a staff editor on the Columbia Business Law Review. During his 1L summer, Luke was a research assistant for Professors Joshua Mitts and Giuseppe Dari-Mattiacci. 

    Luke is from Long Island, NY. He earned a B.A. in Economics and Philosophy from Baruch College, CUNY in 2019.

  • Lily Zhou is a Programming VP of CBLA. She serves as a staff editor on the Columbia Business Law Review.

    During her 1L summer, Lily worked as a Summer Associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell in New York and interned at Comcast in Philadelphia (virtually). 

    Lily grew up in Ningbo, China. She graduated from the University of Chicago in 2019 with a B.A. in Economics and in History.

  • Lauren is CBLA's VP of Membership.

    Lauren is also involved with the Columbia Law Women’s Association, First Generation Professionals, and Devinimus. During her 1L summer, Lauren worked as a judicial intern in the chambers of the Honorable Andrea Masley of the NYS Supreme Court, Commercial Division. 

    Lauren is from Westchester, NY. She graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.A. in Public Policy and Leadership and Government.  

     

  • Kyle is one of CBLA's VP's of Programming.

    Kyle is from Irvine, California and attended Cornell University for undergrad, majoring in Industrial and Labor Relations. After college, Kyle worked at Ankura Consulting Group in their Turnaround and Restructuring Group, as part of a team serving as the financial advisor to distressed companies in the process of filing for bankruptcy. As a 1L at CLS, Kyle participated in the NALSA Moot Court, and served as a 1L representative for the Society of Immigrant and Refugee Rights as well as CBLA. In addition, Kyle participated in a Spring Break Pro Bono "Caravan" for the Domestic Violence Project. 

  • Konstantina is Co-President of CBLA. She is also a staff member on the Columbia Business Law Review. During her 1L summer, she worked as a legal intern in the Enforcement Division at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission in New York. 

    Konstantina is from Thessaloniki, Greece. She graduated from the University of Miami, with a B.S. in Psychology and Public Relations and a minor in Mathematics.

  • Joshua Kolb is a VP of Programming at CBLA. He is also a staff editor on the Journal of Law and Social Problems. During his 1L summer, Joshua worked as a judicial intern for Hon. Debra Ann Livingston on the U.S. Second Circuit and as a research assistant for Professor Mark Barenberg.

    Joshua is from New York, NY. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Columbia University, and a Master of Philosophy in Political Thought and Intellectual History from the University of Cambridge.

  • Jiyoon Kim is one of the VPs of Communications. During her 1L summer, she worked as a summer associate at Simpson Thacher. Before Columbia Law School, she was a paralegal at Davis Polk in their Structured Products group. She will spend her 2L year in residence at Columbia Business School as part of the 3-Year JD/MBA Program.

    Jiyoon was born in New York City but grew up in Tokyo, where she attended international schools. She graduated from Princeton University in 2017 with an A.B. in East Asian Studies and a Certificate in Translation and Intercultural Communication.

  • Jenny Zhou a 2L from Cupertino, California. She has also lived abroad in Shanghai, China for 6 years, attending an international school in middle and high school before moving to Atlanta, Georgia where she attended Emory University. She graduated undergrad in 2017 with a joint degree in English & Creative Writing, and then spent two years working in the law and tech industry in Atlanta before moving to New York to pursue a 3-year JD/MBA joint degree at Columbia Law School and Columbia Business School. Jenny spent her 1L (remote) summer at Baker McKenzie as a Summer Associate, working on a Covid-19 EvictionLab.org pro bono project with Professor Benfer, and case prepping for MBB recruiting. When she is not working or studying, she loves to karaoke, ice skate, enjoy omakase, watch Grey’s Anatomy and SVU, and window shop for real estate she cannot yet afford.

  • Jenna Shin is a VP of Communications for CBLA. She also serves as a staff member of the Columbia Business Law Review and VP of Communications for the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association. During her 1L summer, Jenna worked as a summer associate at Choate, Hall & Stewart in Boston. Before law school, she was a legal assistant at Davis Polk in New York.

    Jenna grew up in Dallas, Texas, and graduated from Dartmouth College in 2018 with a B.A. in History.

     

  • Jack Nassar is one of CBLA's VP's of Programming.

    Jack is from Crofton, Maryland. He attended the University of Southern California, where he studied Psychology and Political Science. Having served as a 1L Representative for the Columbia Business & Law Association, Jack looks forward to maintaining his active role in the organization as a 2L. In addition to his CBLA Board position, Jack is a 2L Staffer for the Journal of Law & Social Problems and is the VP of Communications for the Whiskey & Spirits Club.

     

  • Ingrid Li is Co-President of CBLA. She is also a Moot Court Student Editor and Member of Devinimus. During her 1L summer, Ingrid worked as a Summer Associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom and did her corporate in-house externship at Vertex Pharmaceuticals. 

    Ingrid earned a bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Economics and a secondary in Psychology from Harvard University.

     

  • Grace is one of the VP's of Programming.

    Grace also serves as the IRAP Chair of Society for Immigrant and Refugee Rights and a staff member on the Columbia Journal of Transnational Law. During 1L, she worked as a summer associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell. 

    Grace was born and raised in Ningbo, China, before coming to the U.S. to attend high school in suburban Massachusetts. She graduated from Columbia College with a B.A. in Political Science-Economics.

  • Daniel is one of CBLA's VP's of Programming.

    Daniel is also a staff member on the Columbia Science and Technology Law Review. During his 1L summer, Daniel interned as a summer associate at Baker Botts in New York. Prior to law school, he worked as an aerospace engineer at NASA.

    Daniel is from Norfolk, Virginia. He graduated from Virginia Tech in 2017 and 2018 with a B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering.

     

  • Dan Daskal is VP of Finance of CBLA. He also serves as a staff member on the Columbia Business Law Review.

    During his 1L summer, Dan worked as a legal intern at the Volunteers of Legal Service Microenterprise Project.

    Dan grew up in California’s Bay Area. He graduated from the University of California, Davis in 2019 with a B.A. in Economics and Political Science.

  • Connor is CBLA's VP of Mentorship.

    Connor interested in control and financing transactions across the private equity lifecycle. Connor was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona and completed his undergraduate coursework at the University of Southern California, where he studied business administration, completed the John H. Mitchell Business of Cinematic Arts program, and found his passion for representation working at Los Angeles’ leading talent agencies.  Before law school, he split time between the Arizona Commerce Authority, aiding the development of a robust, diverse ecosystem in his home state, and working at a local startup.

    During his 1L summer, Connor was in New York, working in-house at ExodusPoint Capital Management, a multi-manager hedge fund, and assisting the research of Professors Eric Talley and Talia Gillis for their forthcoming venture capital paper, "Sex & Startups." Next summer, he will be joining the Corporate Department of Paul, Weiss here in New York.

     

  • Charlene (Zheyan) Ni is a VP of Mentorship of CBLA. She is also a staff editor on the Columbia Business Law Review, Co-chair of CSIL's Friedmann Conference Committee, and Moot Court Student Editor. During her 1L summer, Charlene worked at SDNY as a judicial intern for Hon. Ona T. Wang. Prior to attending law school, she also worked as a legal assistant at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe Hong Kong office on Princeton in Asia Fellowship.

    Charlene grew up in Ningbo, China. She earned a B.A. from Wesleyan University in 2015 (College of Social Studies) and an M.A. in history from the University of Chicago in 2017. She is also a part-time podcast host and producer.

  • Chad is one of CBLA's VP's of Communications. 

    Chad is also a Staff Member of the Columbia Business Law Review and is involved with DeVinimus Wine Society, Society for Law, Science, and Technology, and the AIPLA Moot Court. During his 1L summer, Chad interned in the Bureau of Competition at the Federal Trade Commission.

    Chad is from Florida. In 2020, Chad graduated from the University of Florida, where he majored in both Biology and Economics. 

  • Celeste is one of CBLA's Presidents. 

    Celeste is from Cincinnati, Ohio. She graduated from Dartmouth College with a major in Quantitative Social Science. Prior to law school, she worked in the Legal Division of Goldman Sachs. Celeste worked as a summer associate at Milbank LLP during her 1L summer.

  • Brian is one of CBLA's VP's of Communications.

    Brian is also a Staff Member of the Columbia Business Law Review, the VP of Professional Programing of the Entertainment, Arts, and Sports Law Society, and a member of Jewish Law Students Association and First Generation Professionals. During his 1L summer, Brian was a judicial intern to the Honorable Diane Gujarati of the EDNY. Next summer, Brian will be a Summer Associate at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP. 

    Brian is from Merrick, NY. In 2020, he graduated from the University of Michigan with a BA in Political Science. 

  • Ari is VP of Finance.

    Ari is originally from Toronto, Canada. He studied Management Accounting at the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants in Johannesburg, South Africa. Afterwards, he pursued a MS in Accounting at Fordham University. Prior to law school, he worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Alternative Investments practice. During his 1L summer, Ari interned on the legal team at Two Sigma Investments. 

     

     

  • Alex is one of CBLA's VP's of Programming.

    Alex is also a staff editor for the Columbia Business Law Review, on the executive board of Devinimus, a Teaching Assistant for Professor Thomas Schmidt in Civil Procedure, and a Research Assistant for Professor Eric Talley. During his 1L summer, Alex worked as a legal intern in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York.

    Alex was born and raised in New York City. He graduated from NYU with a B.M. in Music. 

     

  • Abby is one of CBLA's VP's of Programming.

    Abby is also the Events Director of the Environmental Law Society and a Staff Editor of the Columbia Journal of Gender and Law. During her 1L summer, Abby worked for the Suffolk County DA’s office in the Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Bureau. 

    Abby is from Scarsdale, NY. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2021 with a B.S. in Psychology and Human Development & Family Studies.
