Michelle Duarte ’22 serves as the Judicial Committee Chair for LaLSA. She graduated in 2016 with a B.A. in Ethnic Studies and a minor in Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley. After graduation, Michelle worked at the United States Agency for International Development and the United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations as the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Pre-Law Fellow. After the fellowship, Michelle worked at the American Bar Association Commission on Domestic & Sexual Violence. At CLS, Michelle is on the Columbia Law Review and serves as a Peer Mentor, an Admissions Ambassador, and EWOC’s Women’s Advocacy Coalition Representative. She spent her 1L summer at Kramer Levin in their New York office. Upon graduation, she hopes to enter the private sector and do pro bono work on the intersection between criminal justice and gender based violence. Her fun fact is that she has run 3 marathons and will hopefully be training for the Los Angeles Marathon (pending a COVID-19 vaccine).
