Jessica Barragan '21 serves as the LaLSA 3L Professional Development Private Sector Chair. Jessica graduated summa cum laude from Cornell University in 2015 with a Bachelor's degree in Government and Sociology and minors in Law & Society, Inequality Studies, and Spanish. After graduation, Jessica served as a Public Policy Fellow with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) in Washington, D.C., where she interned for the Office of Senator Richard Blumenthal and the American Bar Association Commission on Immigration. Jessica later worked as a legal assistant for the Latin American arbitration group at White & Case LLP for two years in Washington, D.C. and subsequently as an SEO Law Fellow at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP in New York City. She then worked as a 1L LCLD Scholar at Winston & Strawn LLP and as a Summer Associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP in their Litigation department. On campus, Jessica serves as a senior editor on the Columbia Law Review, Teaching Assistant for the Advanced Mediation Clinic, Courtroom Advocate for the Domestic Violence Project, peer mentor for Empowering Women of Color (EWOC), and Admissions Ambassador. Jessica enjoys learning foreign languages, exercising regularly, and traveling.
