Join us this Wednesday, November 2nd, 12:10-1:10 PM (WJWH Basement 104) for a lecture with Dr. Martins Paparinskis, Professor of Public International Law at University College London on "The International Law Commission and International Dispute Settlement."

The lecture will cover issues in public international law and public/private international dispute settlements, followed by an open Q&A period. A pizza lunch will be served. This event is co-sponsored by The American Review of International Arbitration at Columbia Law School and the Center for International Commercial & Investment Arbitration at Columbia Law School.

More about Professor Paparinskis:
Professor Paparinskis is a member designate of the UN International Law Commission, elected by the General Assembly in 2021 upon the joint nomination of Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania for the 2023-27 quinquennium. He is a member of the Council of Independent Experts in International and European Law with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, and a member of Latvia's delegation to the UNGA Legal Committee. He also has extensive experience with initiatives of human rights, environmental law, and the law of the sea. 

In the field of international dispute settlement, he is a member of the PCA, and a conciliator of the OSCE Court of Conciliation and Arbitration. In the field of international investment law, Martins is a member of the ICSID Panels of Arbitrators and of Conciliators, a member of the Beijing Arbitration Commission / Beijing International Arbitration Center's Panel of Arbitrators for International Investment Arbitration, and a member of CIETAC (China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission) Panel of Arbitrators.
