In conjunction with the Center for International Commercial & Investment Arbitration, CIAA is presenting a talk on Friday, April 15, 2022 from 12PM-1PM EST titled: Investment Treaty Arbitration and Abuse of Process: Testing the Arguments. This talk will feature Gaëtan Verhoosel, who is a founding partner of Three Crowns, based in London. Professor George Bermann, Gellhorn Professor of Law and Monnet Professor in European Law at Columbia Law School, will moderate the talk. There will be a Q&A session at the end for students to ask questions. This event is limited to current law students.

Speaker Biography: 

Gaëtan Verhoosel QC is a founding partner of Three Crowns, based in London. He has served as advocate and arbitrator in a large number of both commercial and investment treaty arbitrations. Gaëtan is a past Senior Co-Chair of the Arbitration Committee of the International Bar Association, a member of the SIAC Court of Arbitration, one of Belgium’s appointees to the ICSID Panel of Arbitrators, and a visiting lecturer at King’s College School of Law. Before entering private practice, he served as a legal advisor at the World Trade Organization in Geneva. Gaëtan is admitted to practice in England & Wales, France and Spain. He was educated at Columbia Law School, the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies, and the Catholic University of Leuven.
