Please join the Columbia Society of International Law (CSIL) and the Columbia International Arbitration Association (CIAA) for the second annual lunchtime discussion on cybersecurity challenges in international arbitration. The discussion will address both procedural and substantive considerations arising from cybersecurity challenges, including the admissibility of hacked evidence and questions of attribution of conduct. Presenting will be Hugh Carlson, Director of Practice and a senior associate at Three Crowns LLP, and Kabir Duggal, a senior associate at Baker & McKenzie and lecturer-in-law at CLS. A brief question and answer period will follow the discussion.
Hugh Carlson is Director of Practice and a senior associate at Three Crowns LLP, a specialist firm in international arbitration, where he serves in a leadership role and practices international commercial and investment arbitration. He has represented clients under most major arbitral rules systems. He is an adjunct professor at Georgetown Law School and a co-director of the International Arbitration Workshop at Harvard Law School. He was selected as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers in 2016 and 2017. Prior to law school, Hugh worked in information technology and network security.
Kabir Duggal is a senior associate in the Baker McKenzie's International Arbitration Practice Group in New York focusing on international investment arbitration, international commercial arbitration, and public international law matters. Mr. Duggal is a Lecturer-in-Law at the Columbia Law School, teaching "International Investment Law and Arbitration" and is the Managing Editor of Columbia Law School’s “The American Review of International Arbitration.” Mr. Duggal was named as a “Future Leader” in international arbitration by “Who’s Who Legal” (2017) and awarded the inaugural “Diversity Fellowship” by the American Bar Association. Mr. Duggal also sits as an arbitrator and mediator and acts as a Consultant for the United Nations.
